Biography
*10 Mar 1963 Tokyo
Noriko Hisada started taking piano lessons at the early age of four, and by the time she was fifteen she started learning composition. She studied with Joji Yuasa and Shigeaki Saegusa at the Tokyo College of Music where she graduated with her diploma in 1988, and where she has subsequently taught.
Since her first visit to Europe in 1991, which took her to the World Music Days in Switzerland, she has remained very close to the ‘Ensemble for New Music’ in Zurich, which has premiered many of her works. The ensemble also interpreted a selection of her works for a CD, which appeared in 2006 on the Hat Hut Records label.
She is a member of the Japanese Society for Contemporary Music and the Japanese Association of Composers.
Prizes and Awards:
1986 55th Music Competition of Japan, 3rd Prize in Composition
1987 Nagoya Culture Promotion Prize
1990 1st Prize at the Premio Valentino Bucchi
1996 Moeck Publisher’s prize at the International Composition Competition ‘Kazimierz Serocki’ for ‘Pursuit’ written for cello and string orchestra.
The composer lives in Tokyo.
